The actual shop is located in Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, where our retail space is bursting with needlework supplies and 5 friendly, knowledgeable staff who are avid stitchers and knitters themselves. Our physical location may be in Ottawa, but our shoppers are all over the world through the website.
Our History
We opened our doors in August 1992 with 2 staff members, Maria and Ellen, and as much in basic cross-stitch supplies as we could manage. We have grown in staff in order to service your needs, and expanded into other areas of needlework, i.e., needlepoint, petit point, hardanger, canvas work, punchneedle, and most recently into knitting and crochet.

Framing
There are many good framing shops in Ottawa, but the quest to find a framing shop that will treat needlework as we believe it should, was not an easy task. In our process of investigating framing shops to recommend to our stitchers, we came across Malen Framing. The owner was very interested in our point of view and wanted to insure that needlework would be framed using the same conservation techniques that had been used by Griff’s Gallery, our framer John’s framing business. He therefore got in touch with John in order to pick his brains and get some tips. It turns out that he got better than advice: he convinced John to wash, stretch and mount the needlework that will be framed at Malen’s. We are, of course, totally thrilled about this news and we know that our stitchers will be too!
